Our Purpose

The homeland security mission of the OHS&JP is directed by the Homeland Security Advisory Committee, which is responsible for comprehensive planning, equipping, training, and exercising first responders so that the Columbus Urban area can prepare, prevent, protect, respond, and recover from all-hazard incidents.

Regional Communications

The purpose of the Regional Communications Program is to provide oversight of 800 MHz radio communications and the regional E911 system to ensure interoperability and robust E911 system capabilities.

Homeland Security Grants

Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP)

The purpose of the Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) is designed to enhance the capacity of state and local jurisdictions to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from incidents of terrorism involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive (CBRNE) weapons and cyber attacks.

The Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) program funds address the unique planning, organization, equipment, training, and exercise needs of high-threat, high-density urban areas, and assists them in building an enhanced and sustainable capacity to prevent, protect against, mitigate, respond to, and recover from acts of terrorism.
